Would be nice if a similar type plugin could be developed that works with Trac. Much like MyLar..

Mylar is now Mylyn. It's one of two things Eclipse has that I'm actually secretly quite envious of.

Please somebody pull this one out of your hat (SwtSwing?) and restore the natural order of things.

Anyone know if it would be possible to take the Mylyn code base and port over to Idea ?

See Tracklink plugin. But it supports JIRA and Bugzilla.

A positive response from Mik Kersten (main developer of Mylyn) in Mylyn's mailing list about using Mylyn's core libraries: http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/mylyn-dev/msg00134.html .

Well the TrackLink Plugin is not so good as Mylyn, because it doesn't use the context-idea from mylyn, which is the main idea. The use of an bug-tracking tool is only necessary for teams..

It would be great to have the task focused ui of mylyn in idea (e.g. hide all things not needed when activating a task).

Also the auto fill of the commit dialog (active ticket number + short description) and the connectivity to bugtracking systems would be very great.

Actually the whole mylyn stuff is the only thing i miss since leaving eclipse behind.

they is new project on going to provide mylyn like plugin to netbeans http://code.google.com/p/cubeon/ and port that project wont be too hard since it is base on Swing and it also has independent task repository apis

I also don't miss anything in eclipse *except for mylyn*. It's odd that we've seen no official response from any of the jetbrains people on this given how fantastically responsive they normally are...

And I agree that the connection to a bug tracking system is much less important than the context idea.

Incidentally, we're stating to move our stuff to git. And given the ease with which you can hop between branches in git, and how cheap branches are in git - there's a practice of creating a branch for each context of work in git. This type of use case would dove-tail wonderfully with a mylyn-like task focused UI in IDEA. Given that there seems to be strong commitment to git integration it would make even more sense to do a mylyn-like UI.

Wouldn't it be great to switch focus automatically when you change branches in git?.

Actually, the workspace plugin, while old, addresses quite a bit of the important functionality. At least I can store and recall sets of open files. Seems to work under Idea 8.1.

Me too! I haven\'t used mylyn yet, but I love idea, and mylyn fits perfectly with my workflow. So often someone will come up to me with a problem which i spend 2 minutes on, and then it will take me 10 minutes to get back to where I was before, because I lose the context..

Please, please pretty please with sugar on top.

I loved using Mylyn in Eclipse and yearn for it in IDEA! Integration with Atlassian too, please.
